DD Charity Update - July 2022
Here at DD our motto is “Explore the Outdoors” - a motto that we believe everyone should be able to do. However, just as enjoying nature is essential to our well-being, taking care of nature is also just as important!
This month we catch up with Kent Wildlife Trust; a UK based, volunteer run conservation charity that works tirelessly to preserve the natural environment and its inhabitants, as well as connecting those of all ages to the benefits of enjoying and looking after nature.
Read on below to find out more about Kent Wildlife Trust and how they help connect others to the great outdoors!
Kent Wildlife Trust manages over 65 species-rich nature reserves around the county, as well as local wildlife sites and roadside nature reserves. Not only do they work hard to preserve nature sites, they provide many family friendly fun and educational workshops so that everyone can get involved with looking after our natural world and it’s ecosystems.
With a 25 year vision, Kent Wildlife Trust aims to create a wilder Kent, where wildlife has been restored across 30% of land and see, and is values as a critical human life support system. In order to do this, KWT creates and delivers dozens of family friendly workshops, events and seminars to involve the whole community.
This includes wildlife study days, rockpooling, online talks, photography competitions, wellness in nature courses, all seasons explorer clubs, open garden days and even birthday parties, plus much more!
By doing this, Kent Wildlife Trust explains, “We believe that by engaging people in fun and interesting ways they will build a respect and an understanding of the importance of wildlife and nature.”
Kent Wildlife Trust also have a huge focus on education and introducing the benefits of nature and looking after the wild to schoolchildren and young people. By offering school visits and outreach days, as well as courses at their Forest School Base Camps, KWT bring the magic of the outdoors to every child and young person, so that the next generation of nature lovers will have an even greater understanding of the world around us.
To help support Kent Wildlife’s incredibly important work within nature, DD Hammocks has made a donation of Charity Edition Tarps and Hammocks to be used within their outdoors programes and education days, and we sincerely hope that they are enjoyed while being used to help others learn more about the great outdoors!
